Interrogatives
kush ("who") and cili ("which") are Albanian's main question words for people and things, and they behave very differently from each other.
kush doesn't change for gender or number at all — there's only one kush, no matter who or how many people you're asking about. It does still change by case: kush (nominative), kë (accusative), kujt (dative, genitive and ablative all share this one form).
cili, by contrast, behaves like an adjective: it agrees with the gender and number of whatever it refers to — cili (masculine singular), cila (feminine singular), cilët (masculine plural), cilat (feminine plural) — on top of changing by case.
"Whose" questions use the genitive of kush with a linking article that agrees with the thing possessed, not with "who": Libri i kujt është ky? ("Whose book is this?", literally "The book of whom is this?").
Unlike English, which collapses "who" and "whom" in casual speech, Albanian keeps kush and kë clearly distinct even colloquially.
